Appreciation from Former Student, Dimitri N.
“I’ve struggled consistently in conventional school environments. There are two main issues that always presented themselves. The first being the many distractions that seem so much more important to children than learning. The second, and more urgent, being the assignment based structure that robs students of truly nourishing, intellectual study.
Without Michele Garber, I may have been able to get a high school diploma through adaptation and a certain level of inherent intelligence. However, the sessions I spent with her not only reinforced the coping skills required of someone like me to succeed within the system, they taught me what learning was.
If it wasn’t for Michele, I would never have wanted to learn because learning would forever be associated with this thing that I absolutely hated called school. I treasure learning now.
Learning is connected to everything we do as humans. Before we are formally educated, we are born with different learning styles. In my personal opinion, throwing people who are so inherently different into a cookie cutter system will almost inevitably lead to emotional issues and social “disorders” in adult life. To summarize, before anybody can learn, they must first learn how to learn, they must learn how THEY learn. Michele Garber taught me how I learn.”

Unique Learners Are:
Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
